LUBBOCK LEARNING DIFFERENCE CENTER
LLDC began from the need of a young man, Chase Stane, who struggled with dyslexia, and learning to read. There were very little resources and reading intervention available. The determination of a passionate parent, Lisa Stane, to find answers for her son's right to learn to read led her to organize a Learning Difference Center and school for children with dyslexia in Lubbock.
Following the model of Shelton Schools (www.shelton.org) located in Dallas, TX, and other learning difference support centers in other cities.
A non-profit organization was formed to centralize information for school programs, diagnostic testing, therapy, parent support and educator support for West Texas.
We also opened a college prep school for dyslexics, Sharp Academy. Named in honor of legendary Texas Tech University basketball coach, Marsha Sharp.
LLDC is a Non-Profit Organization established in 2009. We accept donations to improve the quality of life and better education of students with Learning Disabilities by providing information, resources and training to students, parents, and educators. LLDC provides professional development for educators, advocacy-training classes for parents & students, and a parent support group to bring together LD families.
